Perugia is such an incredible city – the views will knock your socks off and don’t forget about the Rocca, the underground medieval city, buried for centuries and my other favorite place for picnics – the lawn in front of Il Tempio St. Michele Arcangelo, the beautiful round 5th century church popular for weddings and the little shop called “Il Tempio” nearby where you can pick up delightful “prodotti tipici” and a bottle of wine for a picnic and enjoy talking with Remigio and his daughter Claudia and sampling their wares — say hello for me if you stop in!
Rosemary, I’ve attended a wedding there and it was absolutely breathtaking. I will have to do a recon mission to review it as a picnic spot! Through this blog, I have really been rediscovering beautiful Umbria…including Perugia, so often underrated. I will let you know when I make it to Il Tempio!
