Rebecca,
Love your ramblings and congrats on Umbria App.. I just spent another Christmas in Assisi and of course had your app. way before I knew you had anything to do with it. Yes, I am an American who loves this country but considers Umbria a close second. Love the people and the beautiful country, food is fabulous and the people in Assisi are the most friendly and kind I have met in all of Europe.

Love your stories on Expat site......I know being a transplant is not that easy but I believe you have done the best anyone could do...making the most of the situation. God Bless You! Pace e bene

LOVE those sunglasses! I toted home a lot of Deruta stuff for my kitchen. Then I moved to Italy...all that lovely stuff is still in the US; it just didn't seem right to lug it back across the ocean. Which means another trip to Umbria would be a good thing!

Hi!!!
I visited Montefalco this past August with my husband and in laws and we visited Romanelli. I fell in love with those Sagrantino cookies but didn't think to ask for the recipe which is heartbreaking. Any chance you wouldn't mind sharing it? We brought home a couple of bottles and I would love to make a batch! Thank you so so much! Ciao, Cristyle

Felice anno nuovo Rebecca! It was a pleasure participating in the Italy blogging roundtable in December. I hope you had a lovely holiday and the new year is off to a great start! We had a fabulous time with our boys and everyone was in great spirits. You may recall my older son Ryan...well, he met a young lady in Puglia shortly after we left Umbria last summer and they continue to be in touch through skype and instant messaging on their cell phones. I think my master plan is working...the best gift I could ever receive...an Italian daughter in law! ;-) You never know...one can dream! Best to you and your family! Un grande abbraccio! Melissa

Oh well, at this point I may as well come out of hiding. I've known about that gifted blogging neighbor beyond the hills to the east for quite a while. Your great writing, insight and fantastic sense of humor traveled all the way to Southern Tuscany! But why in the world do you insist on writing about Umbria? Of all places!

And Alexandra, you hit the nail on the head. That's exactly how I feel when visiting back in Switzerland. People talk to me as if I had an incurable brain tumor - and it was about time I realized!

Buone feste to you all!
